Ground Hog Day--what an American tradition! Poor Punxatawny Phil!

They wake him from his hibernation to keep up with us all!

The legend has it that if he sees his shadow, it frightens him and he runs back into his burrow for 6 more weeks – meaning 6 more weeks of winter.

If he does not see his shadow, he stays out and Spring is right around the corner!

Ground Hog Day is on February 2nd, and this tradition makes way for us to learn about ground hogs and also about shadows!
